ip leaking again!

Okay so I just put on this rebuilt pump a month ago. I looked in the driveway when it was running and drip drip. So now I gotta find another one!! I don't have 800 bucks to spend on one. Ugh.....

So reseal that one. Or the one you took off and swap back. What do you have for a LP? It's strange that it started leaking suddenly like that, but you did put on a used pump, right?

Okay. This is weird?? This morning I started it and it was dripping from bottom of pump. Well I started it again and no leaking? There is a wet spot on the pump but no leak now. I drove it and got on it some and looked again and no leak, just a wet spot on it.

Not sure on lp, I guess stock. But it seems like no one wants to re seal them, they just want to sell you a new one. I was gonna have my original one resealed but people I talked to said they would sell me one new.

Also, could a ksb switch affect it? Mine is hot wired to a toggle, I had it on this morning and it dripped. I started it this afternoon and turned the ksb off before it was warm and it never dripped.

If you feel confident enough to change the govenor spring, you can do a reseal. A reseal kit is about $20. Part number DGK121 form Bosch/Cummins.

I have gone through my pump, lots of members have. It is one of those things that is extremely easy or extremely hard. It will either be straight forward or the most complicated thing on the planet to you.... just all depending on what you have been around on the mechanic side of things.

It is allot more complicated than doing a governor spring. There are a whole basket of parts that if one thing gets out of place it will not work.. So it is more if you can put 100 things back in exactly how they came apart or not.

The best thing to do if its the first time you are taking something apart set up a video camera and document how everything comes apart so you can resemble it right.

Its weird. Is it posibble for a seal to get cold and then warm up and not leak? I started it this morning and it leaked, I drove it and looked and no leaks. Its weird. And no I'm not comfortable resealing it.

Ya it is possible for things to sometime leak.

Bgilbert has done a decent amount of them and may re seal it for you. He was gonna do mine, but I figured I'd roll the dice and see if I could do it.... and it wasn't bad at all. In fact I was very insulted by the injection pump shops who promised me I couldn't do it, it makes me want to punch them in the face. LOL

I would buy the kit and pay someone to reseal it but the problem is, I don't know how to put it back on. I've never done this stuff, and I've only owned this truck for about 3 months.
