no oil psi or vacuum

Postby ellis93 » Mon Mar 11, 2013 6:51 am

Looking into a truck, might buy it to repower my old 82 Chevy c10 with. Feller selling it said he was pulling up to a stop sign, felt a huge bump like being rearended and looked down and seen no oil pressure.
If that vacuum pump freezes up would it kill the oil pressure, there is absolutely no oil coming out the rockers and no vacuum. Also the guy said that it was making a whistling sound right after it happened, yet I hear nothing this morning.

It is a 95 2500, yeah I know.....yucky poo nasty p pump motor

So, do you need an oar to stir the cauldron with, or will you settle for a tea spoon? ;)

Possible that the oil pump locked up or ps pump locked up breaking a gear tooth sending it threw the timing case? I don't know if its possible or not.

If the guy "felt" something when it happend that tells me that it probably has something to do with the oil pump or gear

The real question is, did he shut it off or drive it home? ;)

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Obviously it's still running if you know that there is 0 psi oil pressure, and that there is no oil from the rockers arms. STOP running the motor dry! Probably the oil pump crapped out. Fix that first, then see if the vacuum pump is working.

He killed it promptly. Dude is a gauge hound,he watches those things like a hawk apparently.

For what its worth this motor has 360k on it....so it's time for something to crap out on it.

Anywho......looks like im picking the engine and trans up out of it for a wapping 600 bucks.......now who does that make sick  . The trans has about 20k on it since its rebuild by me so at least I know its good....kinda

Wouldn't make ME sick, I can't sell the 2 I have for a profit, so why would I want a blown up one that I can't afford to buy because the others won't sell?

P-7100 stuff isn't the money pile some people make it out to be, it's hard to sell right now, too.
On the other hand, I can probably sell EVERY core VE I have and come away with a nice truck from the cash, but they aren't costing me a thing sitting here under my computer table.
I sold a bunch once and regretted it, won't happen again.

It's not blown up....it has issues  . It'll work out,I've dealt with this before a few times. I'll have the crank polished (IF I'll lucky) or turned and rering it.......or I might buy a used pump and run it till it pucks. IDK cheap is cheap. ;)
