Hello there,
first post- new to the site so here we go-
i am a new owner of a 92 d250, i have done a TON of reading- here, TDR, dieselbomber, ect... and love my truck.
it is totally stock- 172k- 5speed- club cab- long bed- yada yada
i have a boost gauge hooked up- about 10-12lbs at WOT in 4th and 5th. its got a 21cm exhaust.
i also have a isspro pyro gauge- not hooked up yet, waiting for a probe.
looking for a fuel pressure gauge as we speak
my question/issue is: last week i rotated my stock fuel pin 90* and cranked down my smoke screw nothing else- no star wheel or full fuel. ( i wanted to see what it would do for performance and smoke) without my pyro i am hesitate to do anything major.
to be honest i never was looking at my exhaust when was driving before but i was after doing those two things. if i stomped on the gas in neutral it was puff out a little black smoke- due to the smoke screw i assume. but when i would drive i notice white smoke for the most part. when i shift through the gears it smokes more just after the up shift when the rpms are lower, it clears up on the upper half of the gear before the next shift.
i didnt know if it was due to the rotated pin and smoke screw or not so i put them both back to stock and i still smoke- no black smoke just white-ish. At WOT it would be pretty hazy but i assume that is normal. I have only driven two diesels prior to this one, my brothers rare but reliable 82 mazda p/u and my 82 factory diesel k5 blazer. both would smoke white during full throttle runs so i agian assume that part is normal but should i be worried about the smoke while i roll through the gears- im not heavy on the throttle but maybe 15-25% not a lot.
sorry for the long post but i am just cautious about my new driver.
thanks,
drew
