i understand its not going to be cheap for say. i also understand that there is better years to start with. but i own the d350 and its got low miles an i like to try to do what they say cant be done. im not one that will give up easy. i know that it will not be a over night thing to make something like this try and even try to make it work. that being said im going to atlest give it a try. ill have a egt gauge so if it gets very hot ill back off the throttle and have to rethink things then

Why would 93s not be a year to build up. Sounds funny to me.

im not talking the year of the truck, what i mean is that its not like any of our trucks are like a duramax that you can set the tune to the first setting when you pull a trailer and level five wen you pull a sled, if you want that then get a 24v

well the fuel screw should give you alittle bit of tuning. no its not a flip of a switch like the newer trucks but you can still turn up or turn down a ve pump. the fuel screw may not be bottemed out when towing which should cut down on the fuel flow which would make less power and heat

I'm with KTA on the towing vs hp. I have towed into the mid 20Ks, with probably 200-220hp (stock truck, pump tuning only), did just fine towing in western KS and eastern CO (kinda like Iowa- not real steep, but not super flat, either). EGTs were fine, never had to downshift for lack of power, didnt lose much speed, etc. You'd be surprised what some 3.54 gears and a good deal of low end torque will do for your towing capacity.

Not that I'm saying to NOT shoot for the moon, but the stratosphere may be all you need.

well id say my truck is as turned up as you can get it with a stock turbo and injectors but may its not. I also look at it this way if i put 5x14's in it for say and the twins dont keep up and egt are to high i could always go with alittle smaller injector and sell the biggers ones and just make alittle less power but like Dynomite Diesel said 400-500hp should be do able with enough air i no i dont need that much power to tow but who know it may not end up been a tow rig i just kno i want it to have more power then i need :D

Snoot, at your power level, and all your updated air flow, can you hold the power for very long??

Sorry but I am getting caught up a little.

Richie I have no problems driving around on a 30-70 degree day but when it gets 70-90 my cooling system is working hard. The fan engages and disengages more on the freeway much more then it used to with a single turbo. I think a lot of it is from some of the additional heat being pulled into the turbo from the engine bay. My new hood should help allot.

I can run the truck pretty hard for long periods of time 70-80MPH no problems but when I push it above 80mph she starts making some heat in the cooling system. Had the truck to 110mph a few times now and it dont take long to get there.

sorry i know it the post is a few days old but where is your guys timeing set if you left timeing at the stock setting and only ran a m&h spacer wouldnt you coolant temps and egt stay lower with the proper amount of air or even back the injectors down to a 5x12 or 14 instead of 5x16's

i also have been shooting for a functional tow rig, although not at the power level you are shooting for. A custom intercooler and rad should definatly be in the order. I think a hellman cooler is around 1200, im not sure if they do radiators, but that would be the shiznit. Maybe those 5x10 southern diesel extreme's, Ive found good reviews on those. As everyone has stated, different parts of the country require different things out of a truck. Up here, grossing about 15k, cab over, trailer with 4 sleds and gear, I can pull 7-8% grades all day at 60mph, not fast nor heavy i know, but in commifornia where i came from, id be limping up a hill in 3rd at 40 mph with that load. 20 degrees vs 90 or worse.

Nope, that ain't good, but it can be easily and cheaply fixed.

Make a thread about the issue and we'll gladly help you out.

Nothing personal, but it's nice to keep threads somewhat organized so it's easier to track down info later.
