The oil returns threw the head a large. Those would just move with the oil flow with out problems. When it came out threw the valve spring there might have been used a slight miss for one or two rev's then back to normal.
I used to find them In the oil pans all the time on gassers. Small block Fords were real bad on then. They used a large screen on the oil pump pickup. When it sucked a piece of valve stem seal in. It would twist the hex rod used to drive the distributor in half.
I did many R&R's for that problem. Remove the engine. Pull the heads for valve seals and valve job. Remove the oil pan for trash removal. Replace the distributor drive rod. Count the money and send them home.
