Coolant Leak Stat Housing Seal

Postby MidnightRyder » Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:14 am

Hey guys found a coolant leak on the passenger side of the engine towards the front. At first i thought the lower hose was leaking but its dry. Im seeing it run down the block where the lower hose/stat housing meets the engine. Im going to start with a new stat & housing Oring. The guy at the local mom & pops part store has both. I think ill replace the lower hose too it look a tad on the old side and for $15 its cheap insurance to not have to deal with a coolant leak in that area again. I'll let yall know what i come up with when its apart.

Clean it real good and take a 2nd look. That's the spot for the notorious 1st gen seep. Mine does it every now and then, lots of trucks do it. Some guys have changed the head gasket and it still seeped. ;)

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
