injection pump bolts

Postby skilletky » Tue Jul 14, 2009 12:39 pm

i was playing with the timing just before, and i broke one of the injection pump bolts off, with the other one that broke off about a year and a half ago, i only got one bolt and the bolt at the rear of the pump holding it on and in place. is there a way to replace the studs, or do i got to put on a new gear housing? will it hurt anything to drive it how it is now?

I would be affraid of breaking the pump or causing gear wear due to mis alignment. That is just me. Maybe there is not alot of force there, I don't know.

There isnt much force, but there is a lot of vibration. I'd pull the pump, replace the 2 broken studs, and then not tighten them down so hard. Maybe a little loctite on the final install.

how are the studs held in there? my truck is my only source of transportation at the moment, so i don't want to pull the pump yet, unless i take the shoe lace express, but its a long way from home to work.
