I'm running the same second gen housing on my 89 engine with that hose plugged off using a normal pipe plug. I used the second gen thermostat too, but I dont know if that makes any difference. Works just fine for me.

I am aware that it is a 2nd gen t-stat housing. From all of my research I am told it will work I just need to have all of it. I was more or less asking if it was all there. I don't know what it is supposed to look like. I know the 24 valve motors have a seperate water neck but this looks to be all one piece. Again I think this IS what I want, just verifying.

All I see missing is a thermostat and the rubber that holds it in. Looks exactly like mine, which is all one piece so all you need is a hose. I looked at my intercooled 93 this morning and its that thermostat housing without the small hose provision.

Listen if you want one like the one on ebay I will ship it to you for FREE!!! Good luck making it fit correct..

You may get it to work with the correct lifting plate bracket from a 2nd gen but no go with the 1st gen bracket...

Its a clearance issue the rubber gasket will not sqwash causing the thermostat to be loose and leak water. I tried both rubber gaskets 1st gen and 2nd gen. The tolerance on the lifting plate I think is different causing the problem.

I already placed a bid on the one on ebay... it was a small bid so if I get out bid I will take you up on that, Snoot. I should be able to come up with the right spacing even if I have to custom machine a new plate. That should be no problem with all the steel we have laying around the farm. I will keep in touch.

P.S. I wasn't trying to cop an additude with you. If you thought I was I appologize for that. :D

The 2nd gen 12 valve t-stat housing requires the use of 2 different square cut o-rings or gaskets, not the single donut gasket used with the 1st gen t-stat housing. Keep in mind the t-stats are different themselves in size. You can't use one or with the other. 1st gen housing, 1st gen t-stat. 2nd gen housing, 2nd gen t-stat. BTDT. 90 engine, 94-98 t-stat and housing. Snoot I'd be happy to take that off your hands  . I'm actually gonna need another one for my twin truck. It's getting a face lift in the near future ;) .
