12cm wastegate install

Postby clubcustoms » Sun Feb 14, 2010 7:04 pm

Purchasing a 12cm wastegated exhaust housing and curious how to install the wastegate....My housing now doesnt have a wastegate....Is it just a fitting I have to tap in somewhere or what? I have a 1990 5spd non IC...

you could drill and tap the compressor housing for the fitting , or run the hose to the intake side of the head, and put you a hose fitting in the factory drilled and tapped hole on the head if you don;t want to drill into the compressor housing.

Here's how I put an adjustable boost controller on the 12cm wastegate when I first got it installed:

But it didn't even last a day, because it only took a couple test runs to figure out the I/C'd injectors don't flow enough fuel to even need a wastegate. Yours may well, tho.

I just put a 12cm wastgated housing on mine and didnt enen bother hooking up the waste gate, the max i see with my current settup is 30 psi. Is there a reason i should hook it up?

It made a world of difference compared to the 21cm that was on there. I can hold a steady 30 psi, before i was only at 20, I just picked up a 60mm compressor upgrade, but havent got it on yet.

I will if i dont forget, I'm hoping to have time this weekend to get the compressor on. Then i want to drive it for a while before i put in the bosch 190 injectors. I've been told by many not to waste my time on the injectors, but i got a good deal from a friend. If i dont like the injectors i'll send the stock ones in to get modified.
