the little pin inside the pump that rides on the fuel pin, is it supposed to come out with the engine off?

the smoke screw fell out of my truck so i put the right length bolt in place of it, keep in mind ive never had my fuel pin working since ive had my truck but anyways im not getting any more fuel when my whopping 21 lbs of boost come in than i am with no boost. also i have a denny t stage 2. where do i start looking for problems? also i painted the ramp of my fuel pin yellow so i could see if pin was moving, and its moving all the way to the deepest part of the ramp like it should.

The pin will come out when you move the throttle, even with the engine off.

If it's showing a track all the way down the cone, then it's working as intended. Maybe you're just too power-hungry.

it doesnt come out when the engine is off, but with it on it moves right on out, but there is a line in the paint i put on the ramp where it moved to the deepest part though so its gotta be moving.

i think i drove by your place like 10 times today, trying to find the right length bolt for the smoke screw, i had to keep repainting the ramp so i could see where it started and take it for another test drive lol.

figured i should update this so if anyone else has this problem they have a idea of whats going on. anyways i talked to dennis thom of denny t performance and i believe he got me set on the right track. heres what he said my problem was

"Yeah that pin is bound up and just the pressure from the throttle moving isnt moving it (but case pressure is) It happens more often than you think. There are several sets of springs between the throttle lever and that little pin so if its bound up at all the slack will be absorbed by the throttle spring and gov spring........you really cant put much pressure on it to get it to move because of that. Its either got gunk on it or the o ring has gone bad and is binding on it. Thats one of the reasons I run an AFC delete top. I just got tired of messing with the afc.....if it wasnt doing that it was leaking. Ive been told by other customers that theyve sprayed PB blaster down in the fuel pin bore of the afc. Itll free up that little pin therfore allowing you to have more fuel travel and more power. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Dennis"

One VE pump i worked on was so gummed up that the little pin wouldnt move at all! The truck had NO power!

Took the top off, cleaned everything REAL GOOD and it worked like it should. Sounds like your on the right track

id say it will feel like a new truck if we can get it workin, also while im in there im putting my 3200rpm spring and m and h timing advance kit on there too , im hopeing that it will make a pretty noticable difference.
