ip shaft

Postby skilletky » Sun Jan 29, 2012 8:28 am

truck stopped running yesterday. my buddie borrowed it and called me 30 min later and said that it started to stumble and then shut off and will not restart. i was on my way to get some food, so i turned around and went out to were he was to see what was up. truck cranked over fine but was not getting any fuel. had no tools with me so i had it towed to the house. got it in the driveway and started checking things out. pulled the cover off the front cover to check the ip gear, my buddie turned the key on and when the fuel pump turned on, the ip gear and shaft moved forward a pretty good amount. cracked the injector lines, cranked it for a second and it fired right up. dont know why it shut off, unless my buddie was giving her hell and let off the go pedal too fast. either way, the ip has me worried. there are no fuel leaks and i dont see where air could be getting in.

the girls dad is letting me use his truck as long as i need to, so ive let the truck sit since yesterday. just cranked her over and it fired right up. i guess my buddie was just getting on it hard and let off too fast. but now that i have another truck ot drive, im taking the dodge to work to put the other head on and the studs that have been sitting in my room for months now :D

Yep, sounds like he "barked" it into an air stall.
Never had it happen personally, but have seen the results and it seems to happen with after market/bigger injectors.

Mark.
