Postby lopez dodge » Tue Mar 06, 2012 7:56 am

was leaving work yesterday and noticed a wet spot of coolant under truck, turns out im pressurizing my radiator and foaming it . backed off my timing and boost level. going to order gasket and new bolts this week. what is the benifet of going to a .10 over gasket if any?

It's my understanding that going over .010" and .020" over drops the overall compression ratio enough such as to help keep peak combustion pressures under control in the case of a higher HP engine. Obviously, the drop in compression ratio isn't a lot.

Further, dropping the compression ratio in general, cuts into the overall efficiency of the engine as well as the low-end torque.

- Don't quote me on this though.

Found web site (agkits.com ) has resonably priced gaskets as well as head bolts.
has any one ever dealt with them or their products ?

As far as going over on gaskets, unless i find that my head needs work im going stock thickness.
