Banks intercooler setup on non I/C truck

Postby Mopardragster » Sun Apr 08, 2012 6:19 pm

My D350 is an early 91 so it was not Intercooled if what I read on here is correct. Well, it has had a Banks power pack installed back in the day. Air horn, intercooler, filter, larger down pipe and exhaust, and the dash gauge pod. It has also had an exhaust brake put on it. My question is whether the injectors would have been changed also. Just curious if going from non-I/C to I/C necessitates this or not. New to diesels.

More than likely, the injectors are stock. They just had you adjust the fuel injection pump instead.

I know the p-pump kits had a different plate for the pump, larger turbine housing with their BigHead actuator, K&N oiled air filter, but no injectors. May have had the TwinRam intake as well, but don't recall for sure on that piece.

The reason I asked is that the pump has a leak when it is cold that goes away when it warms up and I am getting ready to have it re-sealed. I have no idea if anything has been done to the pump or not. The truck has great power as is, but it does not smoke a ton unless you really get on it. They are going to change the pin and turn the fuel up. I was told it would help power and mpg. How I have no idea. I was just wondering if an injector change was needed also.

Banks builds stuff to allow you to make power, with minimal smoke. They spend a lot of money on R&D.

If it still has a stock fuel pin, you can still get a decent amount of power out of it. Need to turn it more.
