Injector issues

Postby pulltilbroke » Wed Jan 25, 2012 9:46 pm

OK, So I toook my original set of injectors to a buddy of mine who owns a diesel shop to have em popped and givin a clean bill of health. 1 tip was replaced and 1 had to get a thin shim to even out the pop pressure between the rest of em, we set em just a smidge low at 240bar, Which according to Bosch is in spec.

Well I finaly got around to gettin em thrown in tonight and after a test drive they seem to run good, the EGTs dropped about 100 degrees and my haze is gone for the most part but they don't make near as much power as the junk stockers I got from Mark a while back. The ones I got from Mark are a set of stock 9mm tipped N/IC sticks that niether of us know anything about. They run excelent make good power but the only issue I have with em is the haze terrible.

So what gives???

This is just a thought and I could be completely wrong, but since you lowered the pop pressure, then they are opening sooner which would require a change in the pump timing. Don't know if it would make that big of a difference in power. I had to adjust my timing when I put my 7x15's in because they were set lower than factory and I had too much timing, which made them spray outside of the bowl. Made for a scary test drive when they first went in.

Were the injectors from mark for sure stock? If they are a bigger aftermarket set that would explain the better power from them.

My 340K mile stock Non-IC (never been rebuilt) sticks ran SOOOOO much better than the current, Low miles set of non-IC ers that i have in the truck.

Yep, sure they were stockers. all PN#'s were the same.

I actually pulled a little timing out a day before I put these ones in and with the old one it made the truck very drivable with good power across the board. When I had timing in it with the old ons it suffered down low but ran REAL good up top.

I'd put the old ones back in but they haze terrible bad, it cleard up a bit when I pulled some timing out but it was still kinda bad.
