Cummins 855 Turbo

Postby nolafishr » Mon Feb 27, 2012 5:54 am

I am looking at a Turbo from a 855 Engine, it is a nice size Turbo and a good price. I am wondering if this would fit on
my 93 12 valve. I don't know much about it. Would it make a good upgrade or is it better used in compound turbos? Does anyone know about them and the specs on them?

That would be too big as a single. They used t50's and ht3b's on the 855. I could be wrong though

It's pretty large. Around 71 or 74 mm depending on what model

92SmokinBlacky on DTR ran an Aurora 5000 (71mm compressor, 2.8" bore)as a single on PODs. Ran really good. Said it was as laggy as the 21cm H1C he had on it before.

What size exhaust is on the 5000? One would have to put a pretty small, compared to what is on it, exhaust housing on a ht3b to run it as a single and get somewhat decent spool up I would think. But I've never done it so I could be wrong.

It is bigger. This turbo is used as the low pressure/atmosphere turbo in there 3000/5000 twin setup.

It might also be an HT4B, way too huge for a 5.9 to spool!

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

My friend has a turbo off a 290 cummins and idk exactly what it is but it is effin huge it has to be 80+ mm an besides you will never get that big ass downpipe through without bashing your floor in..... And the 28cm t6 housing will never spool!

If you get it cheap enough, try it. If it dosen't work resell it, you might even make a buck ot two.
