Overheating

Ok, so pulling my 21' bass boat in the 100+ degree temps here in central and south Texas, my truck which has never even hinted towards over heating, ran so hot on the way home that was seriously getting worried. Im not one to mess with those kinda problems, so I bought a new rad, t-stat, water pump and fan clutch. put it all in and took off with the boat the next weekend, and she still gets hot!!! The temp rises up past the 3rd mark on the stock dash temp gauge, which Im thinking is around 200*-210*.

Anyone having these or similar issues?? and If so,,WTF did ya'all do to fix it?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I would first get a good gauge and rig it in temporarily to be sure that you are actually hot.

Is you fan clutch engaging fully? When my fan clutch locks in at highway speed the sound of it is very noticeable.

I say fan clutch too... My bro=in-laes first gen was doing that in 30--40 degree weather pulling his toy trailer. He stopped by a Napa out in the desert changed the fan clutch and all was well.. Pop your hood (engine off) and check how much resistance there is when you spin the fan.. if it easily spins on its own your clutch is toast...

I had bad experiences with Hayden fan clutches from O'Reilly,only one that worked out for me was from the stealer.

what kind of shape is your belt and belt tensioner in? i would also check those 2 items when you check your fan clutch.

I cant ever recall hearing the fan engage. With the old clutch or the new one. But that could be over the sound of the engine and the exhaust I have on it.

I'll get her warm and shut her down,, see if the fan is engaged.

I just replaced my fan clutch about 2 weeks ago. I guess mine hadn't worked in the 5 years that I've had the truck. It would only start getting hot on a long grade with a trailer. If the clutch is working then you can definitely hear it. It's loud for about the first 1/4 mile or so each morning now.

u may have also got an air bubble in your cooling system from changing out the water pump id check to be sure u have heat as well as checking the fan clutch also check to see if your condenser is clogged with dirt cause air cant get past it to the motor to cool it down either if so

Check the fan clutch, bleed the cooling system and also make sure your oil is contaminated with coolant and visa versa.
