Electric fan ??

How many cfm's would one need??? I'm going to build a Pee pump'd engine for my '77 shortbox reg cab truck and I want to run electric fans, the engine will be mild at first but wouldn't mind building a fairly hot engine later on once i get the truck built and more funds. It will still be somewhat streetable as I want to be able to drive in cruises but I'm not going to daily drive it either.

If its just a toy then it probably won't take much. Even a little air moving will keep it cool when you're idling around since diesels move so much air through their cylinders.

The longer your engine's under an actual load, the more air you're gonna need. I've got 2 3.8 Ford Taurus fans on mine, no shrouds and an inch of space between them and the core, and my truck stays cool during normal DD use and occasional repetitive runs up to 80-100 with just one of the fans running.

Another question, pushed or pulled or doesn't matter? It'll be a toy, never hooked to anything.

Mine pull, but I doubt it matters. I didn't have room to make them pushers regardless.

With my fans turned off on a 90-100 degree day I can idle all day long....it jumps up to 200 and stays there....then if I drive it will go back down to 180 (or turn fan on).....think the guy at cummins gave me a 180 t stat. I have a 3 core aluminum radiator so even though it's smaller then a stocker it probably works better.
