Cheap fan bearing alert !!!

Postby D-dog357 » Mon Jan 14, 2013 11:37 am

OK folks here's a Kmart blue light special for you -

I was on flee-bay this morning and a new listing for our fan support bearings has them for only $30 plus shipping. Mine came to $44.
They are listed as loose and new with minor scratches and dings. Only list 10 available.

Hope this helps others in need.

how often do fan bearings go out? i've never heard of them going out, but apparently they are expensive when they do?

LOL, I JUST did the same thing and got 3.
Interesting, once you make an offer for a certain quantity and the offer is accepted, they must reserve them, because I got an acceptance e-mail at 7AM, my time, and it showed 6 available then.

Before you install the new bearing, pop the dirt shield off of one side, and add more grease. The factory puts very little in there! I picked up some synthetic grease, and managed to get 5 more shots of grease in mine (bough it through the KW dealer for 1/2 what Dodge wanted for it).

Need to replace that bearing on my 93 and donor engine.

FYI,if you press the bearing in the housing yourself make double damn sure that you have it straight in the hole. I busted my housing cause I wasn't paying attention and let it cock in the hole, next thing I heard was "tink" and Walla, instant I'm screwed served hot and fresh. I had to contact our local parts supplier Mark Nixon for another, which still is sitting in the tool box of my truck cause I welded the other up

Let me know how that 25-30 dollar bearing holds up.

Same part, huh?
