Hey guys dad has a 98 12v that is turned up a bit, and were out and about and he cut off the key and it didn't stop running until like 5 seconds later. Kinda worried to start it back up, but I'll see if it does it again. Any suggestions??

The solenoid on those get dry where the slider rides. Sometimes the boot is ripped too. Start it, and when you shut it off try pulling the lever to "off" and see if it kills it right away. Or just watch the lever and see if it drops quick.
If not, Take it off, remove the boot and the slider/ shaft assembly. Clean it good, lube the slider with some light oil and put it together. If it needs a boot you can get one at Genos Garage.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Sorry I'm not familiar with the slider or cut off switch your talking about. I've never worked on that part of the pump. Lol.

On the side of the pump there's a huge solenoid that pulls the kill lever up on the pump. It's got 3 good size wires running to it,you'll see it.....no problem. The slider he's speaking of is inside of that solenoid....it's nothing but a barrel that slides in and out of the solenoids body/electro magnet. That barrel will get gritty from dust and dirt intrusion thru its opening. Take it apart and clean it up,no biggy

Okay thanks guys. It hasn't done it again yet. But it does sound a little different when I shut it off.
