Leaking VE ... seal part numbers?

Postby ArtBee » Mon Oct 14, 2013 11:09 pm

Hello All.

My 93's VE pump started leaking so badly, that in the middle of nowhere I had to park it, figure out a way to get home (250 miles away) and get my 98 F150 gasser and trailer ... very slow trip home. Was hard to tell exactly where it was coming from, but it wasn't the obvious like fuel inlet ... pouring from the side towards the engine and unable to see.

So what I need to know is ... can anyone give me the part number for a gasket and seal kit and where will the best place to buy it ... Cummins? Chrysler? Also ... while it's apart is there anything that I should be changing to give it a little more power, it already has a BD pin/spring and high speed screw backed out and is set at 1.85mm lift and nothing else touched on the pump. Truck has 518/16cm housing/3:54's and 4" Diamond eye.

Thanks for your help!
Regards

Bosch #DGK 121 is the seal kit (can get it online, along with any Bosch dealer). From the sounds of it, it may have broke a hard line if the fuel is pouring out of It...either way, hope you get it running well again and let us know what you find ;)

It may also be the o-ring on the cover opposite of the KSB, on the engine side of the pump. Clean it off with brake cleaner or something and run it and look. You probably need a mirror to see it.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Hello Pete and Ike.

Thanks for the replies. I tried looking up the engine side of the pump with a mirror when I first discovered it ... was on my way home after a two week work shift and had tools with me. Hard to tell because of all the fuel and having an fuel electric pump didn't help. I found a seal kit on Ebay and bought it, so I'll remove the pump (properly) and change the seals.

After posting this I read further down and discovered similar postings just like mine ... so sorry everyone for the repetitive post, next time I will search before I post.

Again ... thank you for your input !

First time I done mine it wouldn't run. I had something off 180 don't remember what. 2nd time I resealed it I ended up having the screw for the throttle linkage leak (which I didn't realized that) pulled it all apart found that tightend it up and then the Head leaks because I didn't replace the oring.

So it needs to come back off just haven't felt like dealing with it. and I'm to chicken to try to streach the oring over the head.
