Turbo noise, how do I get it?

Forgive me as I do not know what the real name is or how to descibe the noise, but I really like it and want my truck to do it. It is best described in this video around the 7-8 second mark. You can hear it really good after every shift. I imagine this is a result of pushing high boost. Anyone know at about what PSI of boost this starts to happen and can a H1C do it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mrt3-vetCu8

Straight pipe exhaust....straighter the better.

Replace air tube (from turbo to air filter) with a metal tube.

Run the biggest air filter you can find.

I guess it would be the sucking noise I'm talking about. So if I went to a gated housing, then I would have this noise? Should I just find a HX35 or 40? or should I stay with a H1C and get a gated housing and 60mm compressor? I've got the stock 18cm^2 non gated h1c now. My turbo kinda makes the noise now, but its really not the same. I figured its coming from the compressor side. I do have a 4" strait pipe diamond exhaust which really transformed the way it sounds.

Of all the videos on YouTube of turbo bark I'm sure it's not that. I feel like I've heard this noise before from big rigs.

A gated housing has nothing to do with that noise.

You are hearing the normal sound of the turbo. When he lets off to shift you hear the noise from the drastic air change in the straight pipe exhaust.

Straight, large exhaust gives you noise through the exhaust.

Very free flowing air intake (filter to turbo) gives you the whistle from the engine compartment.

Its not turbo bark and my truck done it with a 16 housing with the gate wired shut and it's. Really noticeable with the hood stack.

Yeah the whistle isn't what I'm after, it's the shuuuuunnnnnnnttt noise I like.

Yes that is the noise Dodgefreak. I heard the noise from a second gen truck here locally that didn't have a hood stack or a stack at all. It can be done. How much boost are you pushing?

25lbs stock h1c with 16cm housing stock airbox.. and the hood stack. I have since put a DE exhaust on and i dont notice it as much. Like Rc said if I opened my intake up and bigger charger i could probably get it to do it with the De.

I didn't get it with any of my non gated turbos. When I got my s300 with its gated housing then it started doing it at shifts. 6.7 powerstrokes make that noise a lot even just going down the road. That's why I figured it was wastegate noise

Why make it fast when you can just make it sound fast.

That noise after letting off the throttle is due to the stacked silencer rings. Cummins sent out a Technical Service Bulletin about it.
