Engine idle problems after warmup

Postby hokietiger » Tue Jul 29, 2014 8:26 pm

Hi,

I just changed plugs, wires, pcv valve, fuel filter, and air filter in my 1989 Power Ram (318c.i./5.2L V8 with EFI)......At cold startup, she idles beautifully until warmup. Then, it tries to die down. It will catch itself and return to normal idle for a few seconds then continues to die down to a near stall and will sometimes completely stall out. These symptoms continue until I shut down the motor.

I can drive it but when coming to a stop sign, traffic signal etc., it tries to die down.

Been told it's a throttle body issue. Any other possibilities??

Thanks!!

My initial thoughts are running rich... Does it smell rich when it does it?
