VE pump

Hey guys I have all the parts to put my pump back together but Im having a problem getting the pin back in the timing advance hole I thought maybe my new front seal might be holding me back and not letting the shaft and rest of the ass. go in far enough to hit the hole right? cuz what its doing is going in so far and then it stops me I can shake the pump forward and backwards a little and it will go a little farther down in there but then gets stuck there anyone have any ideas?
