Melted/ Cracked piston or injector problems?

Postby JAyers » Thu Oct 09, 2008 8:36 pm

Heres the deal. Got the truck up and running today. On my way to college i didnt build more then 30psi and the pyro didnt go over 1100dg. Just taking it real easy, gettin used to the new injection pump.

I opened her up on my way home. Hit 50-55psi and didnt really stay in it long enough to get the pyro over 1250-1300dg's. When i let out the truck was missing and white smokin like crazy. Got it home its missing on one cylinder and sounds like maybe a second cylinder every other cycle. I narrowed it down to cylinders one and two. Didnt think about lookin at the blow-by tube. But the motor isnt knocking or making any loud unnatural noises. Its just missin.

My question is i know this little romp didnt cause the problem but is it possible that more damage from the runaway dyno run is just showing up? The injectors are on there way to scheid. My old 14mm VE had lots of metal shavings in it when it seized up, so i figure some of them made there way to the injectors. Hopefully thats what happened.

Or the pistons had some stress cracks develope durning the dyno run and they just loosened up the rest of the way during my little romp.

What do you guys think? I sure hope its the injectors cuz thats an easy fix compared to new pistons. Hell the ones in there are only about 6months old as it is. I should have time to get the compression tester out this weekend and see what it is for sure. I just wanted to hear some of your all's opinions.

Sorry for the book!
