I had another thought when I was trying to find some intercooled parts to put on my non-ICed truck... Are there any parts that are useable off of a 2nd gen 12 valve. Could I use a thermostat housing, Fan, fan support etc.? My thinking is... it is the same block so the fan and fan support might be the the same as the intercooled 1st gens. If this is the case it would be easier to find parts off a 2nd gen b/c there are alot more of them still around. Let me know your thoughts.

Actually, the fan support on a 2nd gen more resembles the non-intercooled 1st gen, in that it also hangs more over the timing case.

I've looked at the non-intercooled t-stat housing and it doesn't look to be unreasonable to splice a correctly bent piece of exhaust, on a correct intercooled hose to make it work.
A bit on the backwoods redneck side, but it could work.

So your saying it is just the tube coming out of the housing that is the problem? If that is the case, that is good news. I work at a tube bending shop. That is what we do all day everyday... custom tubing. That would be sweet.

No its the face were the T-stat bolts to the motor that is differant. The lifting bracket must be thicker then a 2nd gen causing the unit to not seal and the t-stat not to seal. It dont matter what seal you use the 1st GEn or 2ND trying to put the 2nd gen one on will not seal inless you swap out the lifting bracket also but I gave up so I dont know 100%.

I suppose if you get the lifting bracket also you may make it work.
