Straight Pipe?

Postby bariley » Tue Nov 17, 2009 6:28 pm

so, i didnt bother doing any reserch and went ahead and cut my pipe off before the muffler  , dad told me i wont get it inspected without a muffler, but i heard that the trubo acts as a muffler and a spark arrestor. whos right?

Ps I live in Canada, rules may be diffrent in diffrent countrys haha

Thanks
John Deere and Cummins, the perfect fleet.

It all depends on the station doing the sticker. I got mine done with a strait pipe. In Maine the auto can not be any louder then stock. If he wanted to be " legal " then I should have not passed.

It just depends on the rules where you live and like Richie O said, who is doin the inspection. Personally I dont believe in a muffler on a diesel but thats just me

A few years ago when NOBODY had tuned up trucks I was in a small city with lots of traffic. I kept hearing this loud something a few cars ahead. At every stoplight I was like WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? Come to find out it was a ford Diesel straight piped. It was way loud. He had a propane set up in the rear of the truck. It was very loud. :D

Then there's that very unique sound that is an in-line Detroit 2 stroke going up and down the hills.

Nearly a mile away and you can hear them plain as day, both braking and accelerating, and usually straightpiped upward.

Sounds like a 4 stroke 4 cylinder beyond over load.

My neighbor has a straight piped 'Stroker. I can't stand the way they sound, but those turbos sure do whistle.
