Throttle shaft leak ?

Postby MMeier » Wed Nov 25, 2009 5:03 pm

This morning I noticed I have a small leak when I first start the beast. Appears to be coming up around the throttle shaft area under the spring. Anyone tell me whats involved to replace whatever's under there. TIA !!

Pull the top off, push out the shaft, remove the old o-ring. Put shaft back in, check for play. If it moves sideways a lot, get the kit or have it done and put in a new bushing. New o-ring on the shaft, 366 spring, and throw the top on. Piece of cake, about 20 minutes work. ;)

Well, it seemed like that, I did have a lotta beer.

P/N's for bushing and O Ring ? How hard is it to get to that bushing... truck (pump) has 174k on it. Is this the o ring thats talked about replacing when doing the spring , which I already have .

Yes the o-ring is within the Bosch VE seal kit part number DGK121. It seems like the o-ring solves 99% of owners t-shaft leaks. A new shaft used to run around $50 and a new bushing ran about the same.
