That would be the "correct" way to do it, but most people just swap and go.

I know of at least one turbo that was trashed this way.

Alright cool just wondering. Hey man that tire business is no joke, my truck wouldn't even start because I broke a lug stud! :lol:

How much does it cost to balance a turbo? Do they balance it as a full rotating assy. (both wheels and shaft) or just each individual piece. What I mean is, if my exhaust wheel/shaft is already balanced and I put on a new comp wheel, does the whole thing need to be balanced or just the front wheel? Thanks for all the help.

The Holset upgrade part (compressor wheel) comes balanced from the factory. If a turbo got trashed after a compressor upgrade it was most likely due to some method of bad install - improperly torqued, or otherwise damaged during the install.

It may also be because they were boostin 50 psi. and barked it in half. :shock:
