No, Rumblefish, but I agree. I think employers who hire illegals need about a $1M per employee fine for hiring illegals, though. Dont have the cash on hand? Start selling assets (personal and business), til the fine is paid.

As for the red fuel, if you're trying to avoid taxes, you play, you pay. I've never had my tank dipped (locking cap, so they cant get me on the WalMart parking lot even), but have nothing to hide. I can buy a lot of fuel additive to make up the lube loss vs the cost of the fine.

Heheheheh, that fine would buy a LOT OF DIESEL FUEL!

I get fuel in some of the junkers I pull in and sometimes I wonder if it's not "red" or "dyed" off-road fuel.

How do you explain to DOT that it's fuel out of an old junk vehicle, that you more or less got for FREE?
I don't think it would matter, they'd likely nail you anyway.

Mark.

what would happen if you added several litres of red atf , then a couple bottles of blue 2 stroke oil to your fuel .

is there a way to tell the difference from that , and red/purple dye ?

I keep log books in all 3 of my regular driven diesel vehicles. Each of them showed an increase in mileage when the ULSD went into effect. They all consistently have run higher mileage this year than they did in say 2005. My Mercedes has been over 100,000 miles since the switch and has only had additive in it once. No problems so far. 8)

Well KTA I am glad I am not the only crazy. The place I used to work for repaired 500 buses a year with no problems from ulsd, and 90% of those had a VP. Those are the worse pumps for lube problems and going bad. My old 91 and my current 92 run on ulsd with no additive as did my test pump with no problem. And for all you people that are worried about smoke and hazing, ulsd does not smoke or haze as bad as the old fuel.

so what if your fuel is black?

Or what if you have an "anti siphon" screen in the fill up tube so nothing is getting down there anyway?

"why won't the dipstick go in?"
"I got tired of people siphoning my fuel so I had a screen installed which prevents anything larger than 1/16" of an inch from going in."....

If you want to run red fuel throw some filtered used Diesel oil in the tank. It will turn the fuel black and the dye will not be detected in the tank or the filter.

I had heard 20M or more.

Doesnt tank dipping fall under unreasonable search and seizure (4th or 5th Ammendment)? I.E. they need a warrant to dip the tank. I realize it's the Highway Patrol, but I am not going to let some hotshot just stick his dipper in my tank on the side of the road (Pete- silence). If he wants to supply the wrench and new filter, and do the dirty work, he can pull my filter. AFTER I see the warrant.

Well now they have this thing called probable cause. This lets them arrest people without warrants and hold people for 24 hours with no charges, search your stuff because they think there is something wrong, and dip your tank if they feel like it lol. Gotta love our laws.
