I should have the truck ready to fire tonight :alien: This has takin WAY to long to do.When I removed the inj lines I left all the lines clamped...that was a great plan! sure made it easy to reinstall the inj lines they just fell into place no haveing to figure out which line went were.

I have a torn miniscus,my MCL is ripped inhalf and a torn acl all in one knee...so I dont spend much time on my feet wrenching before I GOT to get off that leg...hopeing to get a fake knee put in somtime in the next year.

I noticed the washers PDR sent with the 190's are .040" thick and the washers that came in the felpro head set are .070" thick. So I applied a trick I learned from you guys, annieled the washers with a torch and dropped them in a water can...worked great! and reused the .040" washers 8)

What a nightmare of a deal. The new head I ordered ended up being out .004" and would not seal.I ended up going back to the stock head.I had it resurfaced and magna fluxed and reinstalled it with another new head gasket and no leaks..finally! the truck runs good! it makes good power lil smoke.

A question for you guys:While the turbo was off I extended the wastgate rod a lil more, its probably extended a good 3/8 to 1/2" now,I ground a lil pocket in the backside of the cover for the cast exhasut elbow so maybe the WG could open a lil more to keep my boost down around 30 psi @ WOT.Now when I stomp on it I get a loud WOOOSH sound as boost comes up,ive never had this noise this loud! am I hearing just more air being bypassed because of my WG mod?

The woosh sounds more like it coming from the driverside...maybe I should check the intake manifold for leaks, maybe a boost tube is leaking?

Y'all got any ideas or advice?

thanks Mike.

Sounds like a leak to me. Check the intake plate, hoses, etc. If you don't find anything you can make a tester. Go to a hardware store and get a 4" rubber coupler (fernco) for pipe, and a 4" PVC cap that fits in it. Just drill and tap the PVC cap, install an air coupler. Put that into the rubber and put that whole unit on the turbo inlet, tighten the hose clamps. Cover the back of the alternator with a heavy rag, because sometimes the tester comes off at a high rate of speed. ;) Put air to it and listen for leaks. If you can't find anything, squirt some windex or other cleaner on the pipes, IC, joints, intake, etc. When you find a leak it will bubble like a SOB.

Agreed, sounds like boost. Wastegate deepens the exhaust. Boost is heard from under the hood.

Take a look first, it may be obvious like a loose boot clamp or something.

Or a ripped/blown intake plate gasket.... I've seen that alot.

Good to hear, seems like anything on my truck turns out to be a month long project as well.... always bad part, part never got here, shipment got lost, something dumb and irritating.

You mean its not just me? lol

So damn glad to have this ol truck runnin right again.I see no real gaines or should I say losses in WOT boost psi by lengthening the WG rod.It still hits 35 psi,but I guess thats fine, now that I have a new HG and the ARP's in there.

FWIW: she still runs 12 1/2 psi on the fuel press gauge at cruise, last night I dropped it down to 5 1/2  she was pullin strong :D
