That roller and cam plate look for the world like it's arced.
How the HELL that could happen is beyond me.

While I'm waxing philosophical, see if the bigger springs still have spring tension.

Think back, is there a chance the battery cable arced to the pump, or did you not have a direct ground to the engine from the battery?
Where did you connect a ground to when you welded on the truck?
