Wow. You must hate life  We're small timers around here and we have a 570 NH baler.

I use to work at a massy dealer in high school, back when I was a teen and my dad an I didn't see eye to eye, and I got good with the knotter system and timing them. That's the two things that tend to screw up the most, plus age has a way on them too.

I was just thinking the same, possibly the amount of timing I have actually helped things with them tho. I may have needed more with them.
Now I have the proper length tips and those thin washers=extreme timing.......right?

Those tips length is damn near 1/8" different, thats a lot in my minds eye.

Ahhh, I see. I've spent my fair share of late evenings figuring out why the knotter isn't wiping the knot off the billhook and double tying the bales. Usally when rain is due in tomorrow

Ok, hopefully that's what the haze is from. Now if you are getting it all the time even at operating temp it might be something else.

Either way, I would venture to say that you'll probably notice a huge increase in low end torque backing that timing off.

I hope so it really hasn't felt right since I did all that work to it. Use to I'd just let off the clutch and the motor would never change tune,it's been kinda gasser like, have to give her some fuel to keep things the same. I have kind of just ignored that because of the power I've had on the top side. Really my truck has been the strongest I've felt or towed with. I'm not bullschitin either,I can tow either flat or up hill whatever I want and not mash harder. All ive had to do is keep that truck running 70 and let her go. I can set the cruise and let her eat.

With all that said I kinda regret fooling with it  .....doh

Nah.... you can always fool with it back. You'll never know where it'll run the best until you fool with it.

Alright....timing is backed off, almost bottomed against the bolt slots in the flang. I cranked it,let her warm and about 97% was gone. Engine rattle is gone.

Since I was there screwing around I removed the afc top and cut down the lugs around the bottom of the smoke screw, this allowed the M&H m2 pin to rise high enough to get the guide pin off the ramp. That took care of the rest of the haze.

Now all I have to do is drive it and see what or how bad ive screwed the top end up.

Eric it be sending you a pm

So your hazing problem is gone? Yay!

How was the initial drive for low end and high end?

Everything seems the same except the haze and the idle is off some. I usually like it about 9 or 950rpm,that's where it's the smoothest. I also can't tell about the smoke when climbing on the throttle, too much wind and rain today to act out some that'll wait till another day :(

Smoke is still there when calling on the truck to go,but.....in 88miles it took 4.8 gallons, thats 18.3 miles per gallon. I'm getting better, just not where I want to be just yet

Power testing starts a 12 o'clock today

Guess I need to tune it more, lots of smoke and mild heat(egt) and less power :?

Plus it still wants to rattle at times

Stopped and looked at a Dmax on the return,I've got an ugly thought

Might need more timing.....
