15w40, delo400 or rotella. IMO stay away from penzoil. when changing the filter, go for wix or fleetguard, regardless avoid fram.

I agree, that's what I usually do. My buddy buys the cheap oil, and I use it.

So... When you measure oil, is it supposed to be hot or cold?

Because mine was two quarts low, and then it was two quarts high...

I use Rotella. I buy on the smell.

Well that's because you're a deviant.

It's best to check it hot, but after it has had a few minutes to drain to the pan - say after you fill the fuel tank.

Too high?

Postby Ace » Sat Aug 18, 2007 5:41 am

2 qt. low, then 2 qt. high? That's a gallon variance!

I think some"body" not some"thing" was too high.

But seriously, I've never noted any difference hot or cold, providing I wait a few minutes after shutdown like Wanna said.

I check mine cold, usually right after an oil change, and then again right before I change it. I once blew a turbo drain seal and made it the 5mi down the road to the next gas station, and had a gallon left. Never lost oil pressure, though. I'd rather run a little low (though still "safe") than too much of any fluid.
