Fixed one thing and now new problem....Help

Postby 12VCrewCab » Fri Aug 12, 2011 6:24 pm

So just finished up getting the rear main seal fixed on my 93 ITD with 47RH. Drove fine for around 25 miles or a little better and came home today and let the truck run in the driveway to cool down a bit and noticed an odd noise. The truck started to lope heavily and slowly shut down. When I went to start it back up it wanted nothing to do with it and wouldn't unless I gave a little pedal. Wouldn't idle but does now after running it up for a bit but still has a lopey idle and just isn't running right. No fuel in crank case that I can tell, and does not smoke while running. I'm still new at this whole troubleshooting diesel so I need your guys help please. I just want to enjoy driving my truck.

Thanks for any help you can give.

How long did it set while repairs were done. Your fuel filter might have stopped up. That would be the simplest thing.

The truck sat for around 3 weeks before I drove it yesterday when it ran fine then this morning for a bit and then the blahh. I haven't changed the fuel filter yet but I do have a new one sitting here i'll try tomarrow. Thanks for your reply Ellis.

Reason I asked was plastic fuel tanks tend to build condensation on the inside walls when half empty. You may have sucked up a little water or worse algae.
