"Niagra Falls Frankie"

Postby mhuppertz » Wed Nov 02, 2011 8:44 pm

Quote from "Scrooged" and it describes the right side of my block.I did my "shadow the guy that thinks he is fast" bit with a slightly riced out Mustang GT the other day, burying my speedo needle several times as he tried to shake me. He failed, and so did my head gasket again. I guess I will have to bite the bullet soon. Sucks because I was hoping to have a spare head all ported and prepped and ready to go on... I hate to pull off my old head just to crank it back on because I need the truck. i hate being strapped!

WHY, do you need that much boost on a street truck, anyway?

Because I like to "walk softly, but carry a big stick"! i don't think 40psi is too much. After I replace the head gasket and crank her down with the ARP studs i will hook up my water/meth injection which should bump it up to 50 or more...

I torque'd my factory bolts down to 125ft/lbs and haven't had a problem yet

*knocks on wood*

I've let it slip into the 60's a couple times back when I was testing out the twins. It chills out at a nice, gentle 50psi right now. 8)

I do think timing may have somethig to do with it though. My truck is still around near stock timing due to the inlet line. The more timing you have, the higher cylinder pressures will be...

I'm just glad to hear it's not the only one.

It's generally my luck to end up with the one-off part that ruins everything.
