Got my truck home yesterday

Postby cummins32 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 8:56 am

Well turns out it's a 1993, it's in pretty good shape needs fenders and rockers but other than that it's pretty nice interior is great. I plan on getting it painted I'm gonna go with a dark silver I think, But I have a smal oil leak and it kinda worries me it's towards the back of the motor. I'll check it out more when I get home. Should I be worried about it ? Thanks

I'd bet that's the rear main seal leaking. I know the PO changed mine, most people call it their external lubrication system  I'd bet 95% of trucks here have an oil leak somewhere, so I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep an eye on the oil level

Thanks guys makes me feel alot better. I'm gonna put a diamond eye exhaust on it, turn the pump up and maybe a set of injectors after I get a set of gauges. What would be the best set of injectors, it's gonna be a play/ little bit of work truck.

Personally I like 5x.012's. A lot of other people like 7 hole injectors in VE engines. So that's an option as well.

Fixed that for you.

My truck leaked everywhere, and I don't really expect it to stop. Unless you've got a personal relationship with your driveway I wouldn't worry about it.

I swear, every time I fixed one oil leak on the '92, another showed up! V/C gaskets, tappet cover, front main, metal insert that goes into the block for the dipstick tube cracked, now the oil cooler gasket is leaking (found the bolts were loose, but tightening them up only slightly slowed it down) oil.

For a while, I've had to buy oil in 5 gal pails and keep one and a funnel with me!   That AIN'T cheap!

:D right now mine is leaking from the front diff, valve covers, turbo oil drain, lift pump, front crank seal, transfer case, and front left side axle seal.

Looks like I fixed the oil drain and lift pump, but seems like whenever you fix a leak on the old beasts, another is bound to start.

Leaks are like Fords, you get rid of a few and a fresh batch crops up to send to the masher.
