Gauge sensor installations

Postby IRoss » Sun Sep 23, 2007 1:47 pm

hey there all...I'm getting ready to order some oil pressure and water temp gauges from isspro, but I'm having trouble figuring out where the sensors are going to be mounted...can I use a T-adapters in the stock sensor location to retain the stock sensor, or are there aux. ports that I'm missing on the block..what type of thread should I order?....I was planning on using electrical sensors on both, aside from the price, does anybody have an opinion on the accuracy of mech.vs.elect?
thanx, ian :?

there is a plug on-top of the oil filter, it is 1/8 npt, but im not sure on the water temp. and personally i like mech gauges over electric but the mechs need snubbers in them or they will die quickly, and also i dont like the idea of hot oil in the cab that the gauge/piping can get cut/burst and i dont like the idea of oil in the cab with electricity.

Yeah, I forgot about that one, I suppose that would be 1/8"?...Now, anybody out there with a water temp gauge care to share their sender mounting secrets....

Pipe plug on top of the head next to the current sender. You know, next to the valve cover!

McMaster-Carr has nice stainless 1/8"NPT ball-valves that should be plumbed into the mechanical fuel-, and oil-pressure, gauge-lines.

With these valves, the gauge-line can be easily shut-off, in the case of line failure.

They also have the correct snubbers.

Someone else can post the link; as, this site doesn't hardly let me post, without me having to log in a dozen times.
