Waste Gate Actuator Question

Postby ellis93 » Thu Mar 22, 2012 6:44 am

So...new injectors=lots more fuel=to much boost,its aways something

Since I've put together my turbo I've had the waste gate in the 14cm housing wired shut. Mostly because the actuators pointed straight to the oil drain tube and would have hit,but also I had stock fueling and didn't think I needed it

Problem now is I drove it this morning and was using my new found rpms to pass a pawpaw road block, guy was running 40 in a 55 and I'm late  In my dash to get around I peaked over at the boost gauge and seen 38ish and climbing. Don't know how high it would have got and didn't want to find out so I slacked off the throttle.

What can I do with this actuator that I have? Its suppose to be off a bus application. I've thought about trying to move it but it didn't look as if it would work out with the wastegate's shaft lever.
Anyone else dealt with something like this?
Anybody have one that their not using?

Most of the Holset exhaust housings have 2 bolt patterns for different positions to bolt the actuator mounts.
Doing this necessitates an actuator with a different length of rod, though a man of your means could theoretically lengthen the rod and make something work. ;)

I'm not 100% sure, but I THINK there are 2 different exhaust housing actuator mounting brackets, plus some of the later HX35s bolt the actuator to the compressor housing.

I have several HX35s here, of varying configurations, I should actually figure out which configuration is which.

Mr Mark, reckon you'd have a bracket you'd part with? The actuator I have is good, put shop air to it.
Like you said there is different holes in the bracket and on the housing but no matter the combination it still gets thrown into something else.
I'm sure I could "rig" something to work but would rather a "simple" bolt up and go thing  which has not been happening for me on this truck :?
