Dragging Down the Idle?

Postby Rug_Trucker » Mon Apr 16, 2012 9:44 am

Is it possible the A/C clutch or compressor is dragging down my idle?

We fixed 2 leaks on the injector pump. Bled the injectors. No more air.

Bumped the idle up a little on the slotted part between the block and pump. Still a little rough in gear.

Have a squeak in the general direction of the A/C compressor. I looks like the belt isn't running straight on the pulley. The A/C hasn't worked since I bought the truck. I do want to fix it.

Yes if its engaged constantly it could drag it down some, not sure how much though.

The bearing may be going out of the compressor. If the belt is running off the pulley check the tensioner. Sometimes the bushings go bad inside and lets the tensioner arm move out, pushing the belt out of line.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Never have heard it click in. I did install a new tensioner 25Kmi ago.

Thanks for the insight.
