370 injector questions

Postby gomerpile » Sat Oct 13, 2007 4:37 pm

alright so im back on the injector thoughts at night. at first i was thinking 190s but i read you could get 370s for a little more, is this right , if so wheres the best market. but i have to say the biggest thing is how are they on my fuel milage and of course egts. are they as "dirty" as PODS or are they cleaner becuase of the better spray. all i want is decent milage but something i can smoke a little if i have to . what would yall recomend for my wants / "needs".

goal=300 + HP on #2 (alcholism soon to come )

I had this same debate and went with the POD's. I have way more fuel potential than I have air right now. Around town, I do have to take it easy not to smoke out the locals. I do get noticable haze when it is colder out.

I love the power, but the way I am using truck now as a daily driver with an occasional tow, in town most of the time, I would probably do as PDR tried to talk me into and go with the 190's or spend lots more $$ for something that burns a tad cleaner yet rolls the coal. BTW, with the PODs, ground pin, 16 cm housing on an HTT stage II, I can hit 36 psi and lose the folks behind me in the locomotive like smoke if I desire. :)

If I was running loaded most of the time, needing the power, on the cheap, I would do like I did and run the POD's.

but the biggest thing on my mind is how much fuel economy did you lose?
and if theres any one with 370's out there how much did you lose? because the 190's are supposed to be good for better milage?!

I'm running New ERA 370's and with the mods in my sig. I get 15-16 mpg running around town and 18-20mpg on the highway. I get some hazing at stop lights and a small amount of smoke on take off. I can roal the coal if I get on it.

Mine only seems to haze when engines cold. I put in .020 washers, and I guess Chuck sends .040 washers. I bought my 370's used.
What's everybody else running for washers?

alright i got to reading a couple posts and could a h1c with a 16 cm n/w and a htt stage III, handle a set of 370's. without any problem of overspinning? also would egts be controllable with that setup?, and would they be a good thing for towing or am i going to have to setback to a set of 190's.

1st- i need reliable power
2nd- i need towable power
3rd- i need "gasmilageable" 8) power
4th- i need powerful power
5th- i need smokeable power
6th- i need good clean decently priced power
7th- i need to be able to hit at least 300 hp

is this all possible with the 370's or is it an impossible idea without twins?

I'll give my little bit of wisdom that I've aquired driving my truck empty with 370's for about 3 weeks. I don't know what the turbo is spinning with a Stage IV kit, but it whistles pretty good. EGT's are up there when I get on it. Towing 10 to 11 k with the stock injectors and turbo, I could hit 1250 with the valet off, and quickly push 1450 with it on. I haven't hooked my gooseneck up yet, but I think I ain't gonna like it! I think I was within spitting distance of 300 hp before. With 190's, you should be close to your goals. I'm pretty sure you can get 1-4, 5 and 6 I can't answer, and 7 will be really close. How about a set of 330's?

well with the 370's towing can i just put a valet on it and keep out of it and be fine? or even if i have to back out the funny screw some  , but im thinking a valet and maybe even water/meth in the future after the injectors. but how did you milage differ after the injectors or is it too early to tell?

and would the 330's give me all of what i want without any troubles. i would enjoy smoking a certain honda v-6 accord that parks by the same house as mine (dad's) just to put his words back in his mouth

and can someone please give me a website or # to call to get the injectors/ information

I haven't tried towing since I put them in, so no info on how well the valet will work. I know with the stockers when it hit 1250*, it would just slow down on the hills, no more fuel! Then when I hit the switch, it was like I stepped on it, and egt's jump to 1450*. I went on a road trip, and due to unfortunate circumstances, I couldn't figure mileage! I think it's better, but I'm not sure. Plus, it's hard to keep my foot out of it! I don't think I will put another tank of fuel thru it before the snow flies, and I wanna get my cab swap going. Water/ meth should help with temps.

i tow heavy with 370's and 300rwhp. I have s super40 turbo though. With the stock charger it was always 1500deg when towing with that much power, after the super 40 it now peaks at a more managebale 1300.

so saying i was able to tow before with 160 horses with egts just fine, if i keep my foot out of it i should be fine? and also with an auto there is not as much of a load on it, right. shure i will be getting the tc rebuilt but it is still not a perfect lock up correct? so if i keep my foot out of it and put a valet on it for the days i just feel   at the world , or even a w/m to really vent some of the anger on the good ol tailgaters

As long as you set the AFC up reasonably stiff you can control EGT with your foot. Use a valet switch if you don't want to have to watch it.
