died but cranked back

Postby directinjktn1stgen » Tue Oct 02, 2012 6:20 pm

the other day at the stop light went to take off everything normal truck died popped it in neutral fired right back drove fine ever sense but let it sit all weekend go to crank it and it acts like its got air in the fuel white smoking and skipping give it throttle and it eventually clears out then thats when i go to the stop light and it died probably 15 miles from start up. The next morning same thing white smoke and skipping then after work that day samething reved it up for 5 mins cleared out and went away . Anyway when i done my camshaft and gasket replacement took fuel fighter out and the fuel heater and screw came out of the head didnt thing nothing about it all back together and i know those o rings go bad im thinkin over the weekend it dried out and allowing fuel leak which in turn causeing air to escape by just wondering if anybody else ran into this problem if it maybe something else im overlooking no leak on ground while running or sitting overnight

I worked on a truck with you symptoms. And your on the right track. Its probably fuel related. I'd prime the system with the little primer pump on the lift pump. And watch for fuel leaks or air bibles from around the filter. Also check all your fuel lines before the filter. The rubber can get old and crack and thats l it needs to start sucking air. The little rubber hose that loops up to the lift pump is where I had my problem. Cracked form age. Replaced it and never looked back. Start simple and let us know what you see.
