leaky pump

Postby xohcef » Wed Nov 07, 2012 7:42 pm

So since I've driven my truck home this summer I've had some small problems with a pump that was tweaked on very frequently. Any way I brought it home and noticed it developed/had a leak, checked fuel pressure and it was sitting right at 17 psi. Turned it down to 9 and the original leak I had quit. After letting the truck warm up this morning for a few minutes I went out and saw a small accumulation of fuel on the ground, pooped the hood and found this.

It looks a though its leaking from the bolt just north and to the left of the fuel return. Someone break it down for me, I am a pump noob. Have no idea where to start. Set up if a follows. 3200 spring, no afc, screws turned way up, aeromotive a1000 pump and regulator.

The small line above the feed is for the KSB. If you mean the bolt that goes in horizontally from the front, that holds the governor assembly. You need to pull the pump off to reseal it, it's about 3 inches long. I think you can just remove it carefully and replace the o-ring, but I'm not positive. Hopefully somebody that has done it can chime in.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

The governor shaft can be resealed if you pull the pump and turn out the shaft just far enough to get the o ring off ,the jam nut will need to be removed...dont pull the shaft out any farther than the o ring or the governor thrust washer and or governor will move and the pump will have to have the top pulled off.or just pull the top off to begin with
