S300G

Postby Horicon93 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 6:42 am

I picked up a new/used turbo last night. On the phone the guy told me it was a S300G, but I get there and the intake housing says HX40. He swore to me that he had it measured at a reputable shop and the measurements are the same as the S300G that I want ( 57/65/14). Are there any casted numbers I can look at to confirm this, or do I need to take it to a shop to get measured again?

Does it have a 3 or 4" exhaust flange?

well.... then I'd measure it and see. Use a tape measure and you can get an approximate. 5.7 cm and 6.5 cm for the wheels you can see. Is it w/g?

To the best of my abilities they appear to be 60/65. It's w/g. My other concern is that on the turbo-to-manifold flange it is stamped & cast with a 19... is that the housing size?

If a guy told me over the phone that a turbo was a X, and I got there with my basic knowledge and saw that it was actually turbo Y, I think I would be pretty confident in myself walking away. Especially when he used the excuse " it measures out the same". Be patient and make sure you get the right product, it will make the difference in weather or not you have a good running truck, and enjoy this sport.

I was joshin on the X and Y thing. I don't like seeing people get screwed over.

I had a friend receive way off advise one time and it upset and discouraged him so bad he almost gave up his project. Cost him quite a bit. Glad to see you took my humor well.
