Case pressure

Postby Deathrod » Fri Jun 07, 2013 2:12 pm

I have noticed my crankcase breather drips a little bit of oil when it's parked. My motor is still relatively low miles (around 90k) and was always taken care of, so I don't think my rings are bad. What else causes high case pressure, how do I diagnose what's causing this? Tried searching on here.....but you know how that goes....

Probably boost creeping past the rings, least that's my theory

On my pile.....if I DD it with normal easy driving the oil pan stays dry.....if a haul something and my boost stays up for lengthy amounts of time, the oil pan and trans gets damp. I'm sure I am not seeing anywhere the amount of boost you do,but I'm talking pulling hills at 20 or 25lbs sometimes smacking 30 if I get in a hurry under load. Showing my a$$ can net close to 40lbs.....that leaves shinny spots on the tailgate and bummper

A brand new motor will have lots of blowby at 60 psi............ crankcase breathers are in affect (should be) at anything above 45 to 50 psi.

My truck stays dry at 25 psi or so...............but at high rpms and high boost............she pukes all over herself.

Yep............truck has more testosterone that it used to, and therefore thinks it's king of the road.............so it's marking its territory.

Well on my daily commute I don't normally see 60+psi, 30ish is about tops it might see here and there, but most of it is a few psi going down the freeway. It seems to do it all the time now, just f#ck it and drive??????

Just like the neighbors Chihuahua, pisses on everything. Come to think of it, the dog is black too.............

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

What kind of vacuum pump do u have? If its a rotary check for vacuum leaks (brake booster, climate controls, ect) as those pumps vent into the crankcase and a high flow rate through them will result in a high flow out the draft tube and as a result take a lot of oil vapor with it which will result in it "marking its territory"
1990 W350 5spd. IC'd front end, HX52 on ported 3 piece, full 4" pipe, not as much power as I want but more than enough to break something
