Fuel heater delete nipple bushing

Postby monoblock » Tue May 27, 2014 2:30 pm

The required shorter/close nipple for this project is Cummins # 3925954 .The Case IH part # J925954 is 1/2 the Cummins price. We know that from the archives but what about the correct O ring? I got a bit confused with the Case Interchange number for the "O" ring/seal -it might be 3834185S? The Cummins # is (?check) 3913695 or the seal from a Fram 3980 filter.
I found a mail order source for Case parts - RPM Machinery where you can plug in these part numbers for info but of course the freight kills the deal. But at least you can confirm part numbers.

Does anyone know the generic thread specs for this nipple/bushing? I'll forget about the internal hex. Loctite 2422 !
It would be great to have all these tedious little details in one place? Perhaps on this thread? So Please correct any errors!

I used a Wix 51036 oil filter O-ring...works well. Its a filter for a mid 90's small block.

I found out why the close nipple is so expensive - it is M16 1.5 -yes a damn metric fitting on our old American truck! If it had been a 5/8 nipple it would have been easy but oh no ,they put a difficult size on.
Please let us all know if you can find a source for the M16 1.5 close nipple. I can't.

Just delete the heater. It was not leaking and is in perfect condition .The nipple came out very easily - perhaps too easily? In Los Angeles we don't need a heater for the fuel!
So the delete nipple and O ring will allow the stock fuel filter to go back without the heater.
The only place I found for the delete nipple is Genos.
Here it is- $20 for a nipple!But hey - they've got it!

Hungry Diesel have it in their 'secret handshake' store. Same price.
You'll need an 8mm hex bit/Allen wrench to tighten in the new nipple.I also used Loctite 2442 on the upper threads so it won't unscrew next time I spin off the fuel filter.

Case have it (see above post)for 1/2 price if you are fortunate enough to live in a rural area.

If it wasn't leaking....why are you pulling it off

Leaving it on is the cheapest option

11.95 from case.....according to the website....let me see if I would have to pay freight to get one in. If not, it'd be around 12.84 with tax and another 6ish to ship. which is cheaper than genos by a little bit. Not sure how much it cost to get one shipped to you from genos but for me it was another 6-7 bucks and was going to be 26ish bucks. not sure how much you're looking to save I guess.
