Exhaust differences 89-93 to 94 up Noobie question

Postby mattme » Wed Nov 28, 2007 1:28 pm

I think I know the answer to this but I wanted to make sure because I see alot of turbo back exhaust systems that are 94 and up.

So anyways is the difference between 93 and down to 94 and up that the turbo housing is different due to the wastegate and that an elbow bolts to the back of the housing were as a 93 and older just has the v-band fitting directly behind the turbo.

I think that makes sense

after the transfer case back there isnt much difference i think the bend around the t case and the downpipe are the only thing different.
92 w250, NV4500, D80, maxed pump, AFC gone, extended fuel screw, more to come.

the cast elbow of the 94+ is not as sharp of an angle and could cause problems with the fire wall...............But there is some that say they have done it with out problem???????????

Mine is kind of this way. but has a big "S" after my ext brake.

and as has been said the special bend to get thru the t-case, crossmenber.....Is not at all like whats need on a 2nt gen(94+)
So no the 94 will not bolt up with out a lot of surgery

this is the tight spot on the T-case.........and mine is only 3"
if you look on the far lowe right of the pic you can see the cross member and the t-case in pretty much in the center of the pic"

I'm going to need to cut 1" of the ext pipe so it will form around the t-case again. (just installed a waste gated housing!)

I see it's a little tight down there by the transfer case but I am more worried about the firewall and heater box.

This is what it look like with a ext. Brake (2nt gen) and a waste gated housing.

The vac canister for the ext. brake is up again the insulation but now pushing again it.
