new starter

Postby ThatOld1stGen92 » Sun Jun 29, 2014 6:07 pm

I installed a new starter here recently and it started fine for the first week or so, now when I go to start the truck it just ticks real fast as if the battery were dead, the battery is brand new as well, my question is could it be a bad connection to the starter? Or should i just replace the starter because i bought a junk remanufactured one from autozone?

Check the battery, and all other connections. Just because the battery is new doesn't mean anything. A loose connection can create the same thing you are describing.

once had a battery post cracked in two inside the battery- but still touching. everything appeared OK except you couldn't pass a big current (like a starting current) Don't know how you would diagnose that though (easily) other than some type of load test.
