Clutch Fan Delete?

Can I delete the clutch fan for a pair of electric units?

I'm crunched for space up front for an IC as I have 2 large coolers, one oil and a massive Auto trans cooler. that would be difficult to relocate to some place else to install my intercooler. So I wanted to put a taller thinner one in front of the radiator and go electric fans.

does anyone make a delete kit to remove the fan clutch?

Yes, BC847 has some electric fans on his... hopefully he'll mention what ones he used. He is still using his clutch fan though I think.

I'm running the stock/OEM clutch/fan on my radiator/IC. No other supplemental fans there.

I do have remote auxiliary fan assisted fuel and transmission fluid coolers however.

As far as deleting the stock/OEM fan and clutch, you should be able to simply unscrew the clutch's hub from its associated pulley/bearing thingy and be golden. That will remove the clutch/fan assembly. Not sure if there's a kit to delete that fan pulley.

I've seen an industrial belt routing diagram that deletes the idler setup, the tensioner is moved to a boss mounted to the head or block where the idler used to be.

I have electric fans, no kit though. Just my typical cobbling.

If you're going to tow with the truck, you really ought to have the factory fan. I think I saw a spec of 9,000 or 10,000 cfm for the factory fan where a big dual electric set up moves 5,000 or 6,000 cfm. The difference is significant when an auto trans is dumping a ton of heat into the cooling system. My stock auto would overwhelm the cooling system and cause the fan to run when towing any notable load.

but and what crank RPM is that rating at? The nice thing with electric is it's completely independent of RPM!

Good point. I don't know at what RPM the stock fan moves that much air. My point was that in a worst case scenario, the stock fan will move several thousand more CFM.

But this is based on RPM. My goal is to cut freeway RPM by 10-15% which would reduce rpm and cfm potential of the stock fan.

I'm running out of space up front and with my large (18" by 12") transcooler there isn't much space infront to stuff an IC which I really need. It's the last missing piece to finish my hx35w install. I'll be deleting the transcooler when I delete the auto for some MD spicer or eaton. But until that happens I really would like to keep it to keep the stock 250k 727 happy, which almost double stock torque.

I'm with you now. I would assume that that the 10,000 cfm figure for the stock fan would be at 2500 or more RPM. So yes at highway speed, even with the 727, I doubt your RPMs are that high. Lower engine RPMs = less CFM Duh Caleb

So for 99.9% for the time, I'd say some good big electric fans would be fine. So from outside going in you are going to have: grille, oil coolers, intercooler, radiator, fans?
