clutch pressure plate question ......

Postby jethro » Mon Nov 10, 2014 11:34 pm

Just bought a ford (valar) F-350 standard clutch. just noticed- looking at the spring fingers-
one of the fingers has a semi-circular notch cut out of it. This seems like it could weaken the finger or help it break there later.
the missing material is about half way down the length of the finger and about half of a 5/16 circle........ like a bite taken out of the edge...

Does this seem "funny" ?
Will try to call valar tomorrow......

I did a LOT of web searching..... finaly found a few pictures of new pressure plates and some of original ford PP being removed for replacement- they have the little piece missing....
asked the ford dealer where I got it- but they didn't know. I decided that it is an intentional artifact.
