Fuel heater seal from oil filter?

Postby Diesel » Tue Nov 25, 2014 4:21 pm

I know a lot of people are getting a fuel heater seal from oil filters. But the ones I found were all very tall seals. For example the PF52 seal from an AC Delco filter looks like it is double the height of a normal oil filter seal. Any idea if this is correct or if I should find another oil filter in that diameter to rob the seal from?

Buy it from your local Dodge dealer, the same price or even cheaper than buying a useless oil filter just to see if you can use the seal. Mopar part number is 4429695. Or Cummins part number 3913695. Or the better choice would be to delete the heater with Cummins part number 3925954, better known as the heater delete nipple.

When I needed one my Dodge dealer had a few in stock. I think it was around $4. A year or so later it started leaking again so I deleted it, problem solved for good.

I'd like to keep the heater because it has helped in the past.

Problem is that I need this tomorrow. So if Dodge has it OK. If they don't have it...what oil filter exactly can I use? The fram oil filter seemed the right dimensions. Does anyone know exact sizing on the seal?

I used the seal from a Wix 51036 (TBI small block GM). Works ok, there will be a fair amount of squish to it.
